Exciting News for Military Buyers! According to the IRS website, if you have served outside the United States for a period of at least 90 days between December 31, 2008 and May 1, 2010, you have an extra year to purchase a home and receive the Federal Tax Credit for First Time Home Buyers (up to $8,000 for those who haven't owned a home in the last 3 years). Yes, you have until April 30, 2011 to have a binding contract on a home and to close on the home by June 30, 2011. There are restrictions, including how much income you have. © 2010, L.S.G.
